Engrish broken as it is 1

It is the period of Great Singapore Sale and almost everywhere I go I see this big signage

"SALE SALE SALE 70% off"

A sale is transaction that occurs when a seller sells buyer a particular item or service

A discount is a event or situation where the seller offers a percantage / price reduction to a normal priced item.

So why is the sale an event where price is reduced.

Note: Technically it is right to say the Great Singapore Sale because there are many more sales transaction during this period. However, we all know that the great Singapore sale is an event where many merchants make use of to offer discount to move their product.

So the next time you go to a shop, question the use of the terms.
